Under 10 km away:

  • Gordes, Sénanque Abbey and the Bories village,
  • Fontaine de Vaucluse, its source and paper mill,
  • Oppède le Vieux, amazing medieval village,
  • Ménerbes, perched on its rocky spur overlooking vineyards,
  • Lacoste and its castle which used to belong to the marquis de Sade,
  • Les Taillades and its old quarry,
  • Maubec of course with its cobbled streets and pretty bell tower,
  • Vineyards.

Between 10 and 20 km away :

  • Roussillon et and its ochres quarries, the ochre and colours conservatory, the Rustrel Colorado and the ochres mines in Bruoux,
  • Goult with its stone walls and mill,
  • the Lioux cliff,
  • Bonnieux which overlooks the valley and provides access to the Cedar forest,
  • L’isle sur la Sorgue, a local Venice with its canals and paddle wheels, also famous for its second hand and antique shops.
  • Joucas and the ruins of its castle,
  • Apt, “candied fruit” capital.

A bit further, you will find the South Luberon with the pretty villages of Lourmarin, Lauris, Ansouis and Cadenet.

  • Prestigious vineyards: Châteauneuf du Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise.

Between 70 and 100 km away :

  • Arles, its arena and Roman ruins on the side of the river Rhône,
  • Marseille and the Cassis Calanques,
  • The blue coast, Carry le Rouet, Ensuès la Redonne.
  • La Camargue.

Sports and outdoor activities​

Luberon is the ideal region to enjoy a variety of sporting activities.

A paradise for hikers, horse riders and cyclists, Luberon is also amazing for climbers, aerial and water sports enthusiasts.
There are numerous local professionals for each of these activities who will share their passion for the great outdoors with you.

Our home is ideally located close to local hiking trails including the famous GR6 and GR97. We will be able to help you with maps and guidebooks. For cyclists, signposted routes go through the village of Maubec (or very near it) and the Calavon vélo-route is accessible in minutes.

Horse or donkey riding, kayaking down the Sorgue river, tree climbing, golf courses complement nicely this wide array of outdoor activities.
